Group Coaching Programme for Leaders

Coaching has, over the past several years, become a widely used and highly valued contributor to the people development field.  However, it is generally accepted as a one to one exercise – the coach acting as a mirror or sounding board, and asking challenging questions, with the intention of enabling their client to gain deeper understanding and therefore clarity, for any situation or issue they may be facing. So how can coaching be offered to a group, and how does it work?

How it WorksBenefits

How it Works

The basic principle remains unchanged. A minimum of two coaches engage with each group as the delegates seek to unleash their full potential to meet any challenge. It is preferable that the group is comprised of individuals at a similar stage in their careers and development. It is then more likely that they will be facing the same or similar challenges, and will therefore find the majority of the session relevant to their own situation.

For group coaching to be successful, not only does it require a group of individuals who have similar requirements from their coaching. It also demands that each participant is willing to trust the group members, to respect each other’s confidences and, rather like a coach, engage the process in a non-judgmental and open manner.

Clearly, each individual does not get quite the same personal attention from the coaches – who have to spread themselves among all members of the group during a coaching session. There is however significant compensation in the form of the support and input which comes from the other group members during the discussions. Typically, over time, the group members form a close network which lasts well beyond the coaching intervention.

This programme will be delivered via video link and consists of six modules. It is intended that all participants attend all modules. Different coaches will deliver each module, so delegates will experience a variety of coaching styles.

Who should attend?

  • The programme aids in fast-tracking the leadership development of those members of the management team who have been identified as key talent and are potentially part of the succession planning process.
  • Those who are preparing to step up to the next level of leadership and who recognise that new skills are needed to keep advancing. This may also include different approaches, and letting go of some ‘comfort blankets’ which have provided assurance in the past. Research shows that ‘developing managerial effectiveness’ is regarded by many as a top challenge. This programme will encourage action learning in readiness for the next opportunity

How you benefit

Effectiveness

  • Resources are finite; we all only have so much time in a day, and a certain amount of energy. It is important that we use our resources to best effect. We will be more able to do this if we are intentional about both what we do, and how we do it. A better understanding of the work environment and the dynamics of relationships will enable us to use our limited resources to best effect.

Productivity

  • In the world of work, the usual reward for good performance is added responsibility. If one is to meet this challenge, it is important to continue to build skills to be able to handle the additional load, rather than being overwhelmed due to success.

Networking

  • Spending time sharing and learning with a group of like-minded people is an opportunity to build relationships which last far beyond the learning programme.

Experience high-quality coaching

  • This programme is delivered by a team of coaches from a leading South African coaching company. You will have the opportunity to interact with these professionals – something normally reserved for only the top level of management.

Self-awareness

  • Throughout this programme, you will be encouraged to reflect on your own performance and attitudes. This will result in a better understanding of yourself, which in turn will lead to an increased awareness of your impact on people and situations. You cannot change others, only yourself; coaching will give you the confidence to do so.

Purchase Options

Each programme can accommodate a maximum of 12 participants. You therefore have the option of having a totally in-house course, in which case you can choose to select between 6 and 12 participants.

However, since part of the benefit of this form of coaching is interaction with others from different work environments, you may choose to select between 2 and 4 attendees for an open programme. Equally, you may choose to put just one individual on an open programme.

Dates for in-house courses can be set by mutual agreement. Open courses will be offered from mid-September on set dates, providing sufficient nominations are received.

Frequently Asked Questions

HOW LONG DOES coaching TAKE?

Sessions should take place every 3 to 4 weeks. Sessions generally last 1½ hours, but can be as short or as long as you require.

How do I know which coach is right for me?

We understand the importance of a good match between coach and client. We are very experienced at doing this. A lead coach will meet with each potential client, explain to them how the process works and assess from their discussion, who from our large team would be the best match.

The lead coach will then organize a chemistry session to determine each party’s comfort with the coaching relationship and clarify any outstanding issues that need to be addressed in preparation for the coaching process.

Do You Only Work With Established Companies?

No, we’re committed to assisting leadership teams in organizations of all sizes and stages of growth.

We believe the small businesses of today will be the big businesses of tomorrow, so we equally welcome leadership teams of early stage companies.

Do You Offer Ongoing Consulting Services?

We work on a retainer and the coach is available for contact whenever issues arise in-between regular sessions. This is normally by telephone, SMS, email, Skype or additional face-to-face sessions.
